The Vampire Diaries The Hunters Moonsong L J Smith Books

I love Damon! Even before the show when they put a face on him I loved him! Of course I'm a sucker for bad boys lol! In this book they all head for college, all deciding to go to the same one to stay together and protect each other even though Matt and Meredith would have liked to go somewhere else. And it's a good thing they all ended up at the same one because, once again, trouble follows them! Murders and disappearances on the campus that they cannot ignore. A mysterious fraternity, werewolves, the whole nine yards! But of course they have it all under control...or do they? Bonnie even falls in love, but is he a good guy or a bad guy? And, of course the love triangle between Elena, Damon, and Stephan continues. Once again a very good Vampire Diaries book. However I do hope that Smith doesn't continue this series just because of the popularity of it or because of the show. It's getting easier and easier to figure out the ending with each new book:( I really enjoy them but don't ruin a good series by continuing it just because you feel you have to to the point of ruining it and what makes it special!

Evil never dies. . . .

After escaping the horrors of the Dark Dimension, Elena can′t wait to attend Dalcrest College, the beautiful ivy-covered campus where her parents met. Life with Stefan is better than ever, and even Damon seems genuinely changed and is getting along with everyone. But moving away from Fell′s Church doesn′t mean she and her friends are free from danger. When students start to disappear from campus, suddenly every new acquaintance is a potential enemy.

Then Elena uncovers a long-hidden secret, one that shocks her to the core, and realizes tragedy may be unavoidable.

The Vampire Diaries The Hunters Moonsong L J Smith Books Reviews

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! OK, now that that is out of the way let's continue. These books are getting harder and harder to read. The only spark of interest I had in this book was Bonnie and her new love interest. I actually liked reading about that and found myself get a little excited when I turned the page to find out it was about them.
Elaina...oh Elaina...we get it, you're pretty but geez does that have to be said by someone on every other page!!??
***possible spoilers***
I was actually excited that she was going to give Damon and chance but that only lasted for what...3 chapters and even when she was with him we had to hear about how Stefan was her true soulmate. Speaking of Stefan...can he be killed off already. I mean if he were real, I would have already put a stake in his heart. I'm sooooooo beyond sick of Stefan and Elaina. One of them needs to die and stay dead.
I hope with all hope that this series will come to and end soon so that I can stop feeling like I'm required to find out what happens next. I've wasted many precious reading hours starting and continuing into this series I need to find out how it ends and I DO hope it ends sooo sooo soon.
A little on Character's personalities. I liked Bonnie in past books. Yeah, she was a little skiddish about things but in the past 4 or so books they make her out to sound like a typical dumb blonde instead of a cute redhead. And in this last one they had her giggling like a 12 year old at the mere thought of a boy...REALLY??
We already covered that I hate any and all things about Elaina and Stefan
Damon seemed to have lost his edge. I liked the darker Damon with his hidden soft side that no one got to see unless he thought they were worthy of it. Far more romantic that "woe-is-me....find me a bunny" Stefan.
Meredith...didn't really interest me this time. I kind of ended up reading over her parts.
And Matt...stupid stupid Matt. Really? It's so stupid to have a character be so oblivious to what could or couldn't potentially be dangerous after what Matt has been through.
Ok, I'm finished ranting. Basically, if you haven't started the series and are just reading reviews for the books to decide if you should start or not...don't...just watch the TV show. It's a million times better than the books (I can't believe I'm actually saying that.) If you have toughed it out and made it this far into the series...I feel your pain and good luck.
After finishing this book, I must say I'm almost regretting having paid $10 for this. I could have just reread a previous book in the series and been no worse off. The story was entertaining at times, but mostly predictable and boring. And Elena's attitude throughout makes me want to slap her.

**Spoilers** from here out. You have been warned.

In the course of this series, the whole story from the very first books, how many times has Elena stomped on Damon's heart? Too many for me to count. She spends all her time worrying about how Stephan feels, saying they are soulmates, and yet has absolutely no problem stringing Damon along. She promises herself not to get involved with him, does it anyway and when Stefan's had enough she figures "Eh. Why not have a go at the other brother." THEN! When Stefan has a change of heart and forgives her she drops Damon... AGAIN! She has seriously evolved into a really crappy human being. Not that she wasn't before... just infinitely more so now.

And then, Damon not being.. well, Damon is just weird. He says very little, nothing too witty. He's all emotional in this, and hardly any of it is anger. It's like he's just turned into a really bad subplot to get Stelenas up in arms. Then "Aw[...]" It's all back nicely in place and no one is truly upset... yet. I'm definitely over the whole triangle thing. I'm glad Elena picked Stefan because honestly Damon deserves so much better. They need to just leave her out of the next book. Team Salvatore all the way!

The one good thing was Bonnie and her new boyfriend. Yes she deserved it, but the way it all played out was confusing. You have your suspicions, and Zander does seem overprotective, but it turns out Elena is just a b**** and a really bad judge of character.

After all that, I am going to be generous and give it 3 1/2 stars... Wasn't worth the wait. I may just give up on this series before it comes to an end on it's own.
