This is one of my favorite childhood books. Great to teach children different colors and help their imagination actively flourish! The poems are incredibly beautiful, advanced, maybe children 4-10 but my mom read this to me when I was 2/3 she said, and I remember loving it.....I lost my copy when a flood took out our home but I bought one from here because I just needed to have it. One of the few books I absolutely insist upon having in my house (658 sq/ft house lol - matchbox size).

This is a book that I have had a copy of for years, a wonderful book of poetry about color. I gave it as a gift to my grandniece. She says it is her favorite book. I think it is a book for all ages. In addition to the poetry, it has gorgeous illustrations.
This is my favorite poetry book to read to my kids, it's more requested than the books that include famous poets. It works well from the youngest age when they're learning colors, through to when their older and can "get" the imagery a lot better. It is also inspiring, showing how a simple subject matter (colors) can be spun into something very engaging.

These poems remind me of those simple wooden retro toys that are making a comeback -- keep it simple yet beautiful and the kids will have more room to flex their imagination. The poems are short, so they're great for those nights when you don't have time to read a story before bed!
