I loved this little story! It's humorous and adventurous, and the idea is unique. The beginning--in which Penelope, a half-fae, half imp, who spies a human (or so she believes) clown in the crowd at a circus parade and is so overwhelmed by her attraction to him that she takes him down with a shuriken (a throwing star laced with poison) and kidnaps him--really grabbed my attention. And when the clown (Cupid) awakes the next day to Penelope's butterfly kiss, things begin to heat up fast! However, there's an interruption, one that threatens to tear the couple apart. I could tell that V.S. Nelson knew her mythology when writing this since I, too, grew up with a fascination for the Greek gods and goddesses, as well as all the other creatures of fantasy I used to read about in fairy tale after fairy tale, and her treatment of those aspects, right down to Cupid having a brother, Anteros, is spot on. I do feel that the short form of this story doesn't do it justice. The concept is so intriguing it deserves to be more fully developed. I want more!

This is a very fast read, but the characters were well written. It had a little bit of everything good that makes up a great read. Definitely left me wanting more!!!
I liked this book. V. S. Nelson has delivered another good one as usual. Cupid and Penelope only made me want to read other titles from the author.
I really liked this story. I rated 4 stars instead of five because about 3/4 the way into it, it started to have a rushed feel to the plot.

I would recommend this book to others.
It was Valentines Day and I was stuck at the repair shop getting my car worked on. I downloaded this story to keep myself occupied. I have to tell you, in the couple of hours it took to read it (it was a short story), I couldn't put it down! It was such a great little story with mythical creatures, fantasy, a favorite heroine, sex and a sweet love story. I really loved it. I recently purchased V.S. Nelson's new novel, "Eternal Lovers (book 1)" and I am looking forward to getting into this read. Much longer of a story (over 550 pgs.) however, more steamy and filled with Native American folklore.

baby who shoots his arrows of love. Penelope has just never seemed to fit in with the others in the Fae. Maybe it's because she is also half Imp. And her imp side is rebellious and mischievous. So when Penelope sees a human circus clown that she seems drawn to like never before, she kidnaps him. Only, maybe he isn't the human she thought he was. And maybe they are all the other needs.

The characters are very well written and so easy to imagine as well as to connect with. The story line is easy to follow, interesting and easy to get absorbed in. Penelope is half imp and half fae, is living among mortals, unaware of her destiny. I was a little weary when Penelope decided to take the clown home. I thought, `Oh, no! What comes next?' I'm not a big fan of clowns; they always scare me. To my great relief she quickly wiped away the makeup and I got lulled into the great description of Cupid and what came after... well, you have to read it for yourself. The author masterfully trails a wave of emotions within each sentence with well-chosen words; I really enjoyed every page of the short book. This book is a great little appetizer to get a taste of Nelson's writing style, I can hardly wait to read her larger, Sekhmet's guardians book.
Penelope, a half-fae, entraps a man whom she believes is a human. Though it's forbidden, she can't fight her attraction to him. When she discovers his true identity, will they have a chance at true love? This is a perfect Valentines Day read for mythology and romance lovers. It's fun, light hearted, and romantic.
